Jeremy Deller & Ralph Rugoff on art & politics
Jeremy Deller lives and works in London, UK. He won the Turner Prize in 2004 for his work Memory Bucket and represented Britain in the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013. He has been producing projects over the past two decades which have influenced the conventional map of contemporary art. These include Sacrilege (2012), Iggy Pop Life Class (2016) and Putin’s Happy (2019).
Ralph Rugoff has been Director of the Hayward Gallery, London, UK, since 2006. In 2012, he curated Jeremy Deller’s mid-career survey ‘Joy in People’ at the gallery. He curated the 2015 Lyon Biennale, the 2019 Venice Biennale and is currently working on a survey of painting in the UK that will open at the Hayward in summer 2021.
